Santa Cruz Island Reserve

Five sites (est. 1994) with fixed plots are monitored each spring and fall. Replicate plots in up to seven zones are photographed, scored for percent cover and motile invertebrates are counted. Owl limpets are measured and counted in circular plots. Line intercept transects are done for surfgrass. Black abalone and seastars are counted within large defined areas. Sites are at Forneys/Fraser Cove, Trailer, Willows Anchorage, Prisoners Harbor and Orizaba Cove
