Santa Cruz Island Reserve

Geol 30A-Channel Islands Field Investigations involves study of geologic units, geologic structures and the tectonic evolution of the central and western portions of Santa Cruz Island. Using this information, students will develop an understanding of the evolution of the island and of the southern California borderland. Students will also observe plant communities of the island and note the impact of introduced plants and animals. Students will make observations only-no plant materials or animals will be collected. We will visit Christi Beach, Poza Canyon, Willows Canyon, Coches Prietos Anchorage and the Central valley-Cascada areas.
