Valentine Camp

The California Prescribed fire monitoring crew, a collaborative program with the Safford Lab and CALFIRE, aim to resurvey 50 common stand exam plots that were implemented during the summer of 2019. This area was thinned during the summer of 2020, ultimately changing forest stand structure, fuel loading, and understory plant composition. We hope to resurvey all 50 plots in-depth to understand the 1-year effectiveness of thinning in reducing future fire, plant community composition, and forest stand structure.
