Tetiaroa Society Ecostation

We plan to measure waves and wave-driven currents through a 2-week sensor deployment on the Northern shoreline of Tetiaroa. This work will inform how wave climates and currents differ between motu (reef island) shorelines and in hoa (shallow reef flat channels). We also plan to use Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), a non-invasive sampling method), to characterize the subsurface geology on motu to understand their depositional history, Lastly, we would like to collect sediment samples (a maximum of 10) from the surface and from 1-meter trenches to determine the absolute dates of deposition at motu and in hoa.
