Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve

Annual summertime snorkel surveys have been conducted by FISHBIO staff in close collaboration with reserve staff for several years. Different stream habitats (runs, riffles, pools) will be snorkeled, with an expected 20% of each habitat type selected for the survey. Snorkelers will count fish and record other pertinent observations, which will then be sued to estimate overall population abundance of fish in the stream reach within the BCCER. The survey is expected to take three consecutive days to complete.
