Elliott Chaparral Reserve

The purpose of this visit will be to survey 1x1 meter plots for plant species composition, to collect pre-treatment data, in anticipation of applying experimental treatments to those plots in the following growing season (approximately October 2008). Ideally plot markers could be placed to indicate the SW corner of each plot - pending approval I would use short PVC tubes pounded into the soil. In the fall, I would like to set up herbivore exclosure structures around a subset of the experimental plots (6-10 depending on cost). These structures would be 1.5 m high and 5 m per side, and would be designed to exclude small mammals.
